Dave Hauck was crowned the Southwest Crossover Champion at May event at PIR. The southwest championship created in 2006 as a rivalry between Arizona and So-Call 944 spec racers. It was revived for 2009 with 4 race Schedule consist of 2 races in So-Cal region at Cal Speedway at the end of March and 2 more races at PIR in May. Dave Hauck completed all 4 races with steady finishes garned the top spot. Jeff Wojnar came in second with Jim Foxx in thrid. Winning the Southwest Championship earns Hauck the rights to 3 foot tall perpetual trophy that has been held in So-cal. Look for this championship to come up again in 2010.  |

PIR May 2002 was the first time 3 944 spec cars took to track to race. Now 7 years later it is amazing to see both the growth and saying power of the class. May 2009 at PIR represented an Arizona record of 18 starters and earned the 944 spec class a separate 944 only run group for the first time in NASA. Also critical to the success of this event was the presence of 4 944 racer new to the NASA Arizona ranks. Tom Hettinger, Josh Pitt, Chuck Gray and Chris Page all came from other organizations to make this event so special.  |

Elkhart Lake, WI – NASA Midwest 944 officially began its 2009 racing season in the hallowed hills of Road America. Southern Wisconsin in April did not disappoint race fans and drivers with rain, fog, cold, and lightning. Despite this, the weekend was full of close, tight, and fun racing, and no car contact or damage all weekend.

What more can you ask for from beautiful Northern California. It is not too often that you can race at Thunderhill with high temperatures of only in the low to mid 70's with bright sunny skies and hardly any wind in the morning with a nice breeze in the afternoon. Well, this past weekend was one of those gorgeous race weekends that rewarded all the 944 Spec driver's with their personal best lap times. |

NASA Arizona held the traditional Firebird Night race in April this year instead of the summer dates of the past. This year event was an all day affair with more activities going on that you could imagine.(For a report of all the other NASA Arizona activities click here.) For the 944 class this also brought some special things including rain, darkness and Darren Law 2009 24 hours of Daytona Overall winner (Brumos Porsche/Riley DP) in a 944 spec car. |
