Page 3 of 4 Sunday dawned. Temperatures were up and the brisk wind died down. Jim took his car to the dyno chasing a misfire and discovered he had a fried distributor cap and rotor. Some parts, tweaks and three hours later he came out with a stunning 145 HP. Racing being a copy-cat game, the dyno had four 944s lined up moments later looking for an edge. Unfortunately the shop time had cost Jim a chance to qualify.
Greg came out with 138 HP, and the only other car that had a chance to run on the rollers was Ken's #89 car. Ken felt it was down on power after his Saturday spin, and after tweaking the newly rebuilt engine, he only came up with 120 HP. Hopefully this can get fixed before his next event.

Rick, whom had touched the 2:11s yesterday was trying the R888s today but was off his pace at 2:14. Maybe it was the track temperature, new air pressures, or lack of confidence in the rubber, but he swapped back to RA1s for the race. I knew I was running slower times than Saturday and Ron remarked that everyone appeared to have slowed down a bit.
Jerry made the same mistake in qualifying that I made in the previous race: He experienced some fuel starvation. Timing and scoring did not record a time for him, so our lineup for Sunday's race was: Rick (#30), Greg (#43), Ron (#130), Myself (#27), a sore and down on power Ken (#89), Jerry (#552) and fresh-from-the-shop Jim (#12). I'd get my first crack at a mid-pack start!
