Summary

The weekend started with a lot of  excitement, it was the first CASH race for 2008 season.   It was good seeing Jim, Barb and pit dog "Peanut" again If I had a special racers award for most races in a short period of time it would go to Jim.  Jim lives by Palm Spring in SoCal and normally races in Arizona and SoCal.  Jim went up and raced with the NW guys in Portland, OR. at the end of May, came back down to race with us the next weekend at Thunderhill in the beginning of June, the following weekend he was at Millers in Utah.  He supersized the Millers event and raced not only in the sprints but also in the enduro on Saturday and the Hanksville challenge on Sunday.  Coming back up two weekend later to race with us at Infineon was very much appreciated!  It was also very nice to meet Jim's son, daugther in law and his grandkids.

Rick's brother Dan was at the event practicing with his S2.  Dan coached us before there was even a NorCal 944-SPEC.  Dan is fast and we have to make sure it doesn't turn into the Lofgren brothers show when he joins us racing 944-SPEC.

Gary is another future 944-SPEC guy working his way thru HPDE in the #44 car.  Jim was able to go out with him on a session to coach.

We had a great time on Saturday with good clean racing.  It was unfortunate Rick pulled off on the last lap due to smoke filling his cabin at the track exit in the beginning of Turn 11.  All he had to do was go around Turn 11 and cross the finish to take 2nd.

Sunday's accident with Greg was a emotional low but swung the other way when it was learned he was O.K.

Greg and I got back from the hospital after the Sunday race.  Greg is in hospital clothes because they cut off his race suit and fire proof underwear and had nothing else to wear when he was discharged. Smile

The weekend ended on a high note with Greg present and accounted for.  Congratulations to Aubie for completing four clean races and getting his provisional license signed off.   NorCal gave out over $2,800 in cash, contingencies and prizes for the weekend.   In addition each race entry is a raffle ticket to a fabulous year-end prize table.

Thanks to all of our racers,  our major sponsor AutoPoint Motors for this event, our national and local 944-SPEC sponsors, the NASA crew, the emergency crew and the PRC for making this a successful event.  Thanks also to Dave Leong and David Saliba for the use of their great pictures.

btw- Greg already has Dinoco 2 built out before this event with a fresh engine, cross-drilled crankshaft, oil pan baffle,  oil cooler, spec suspension.  All it needs is the cage to be installed so it'll be ready when he's ready.  Cool

Hope to see everyone for the August 23, 24 special anniversary CASH race at Thunderhill.

As with any track incident  there will discussions of safety equipment and we are going to continue the discussion in our forum here .
