NorCal celebrated their 2008 season with a awards luncheon in San Francisco with friends and family. It has been a banner year with record awards given out in contingencies, prizes and cash.
The event time was for lunch but we were treated to a full course Chinese banquet of spicy seafood soup, fried vegetable rolls, pot sticker dumplings, roasted peking duck, braised beef and vegetables, sweet & sour chicken, salt & pepper fried deep sea rock cod and glazed spareribs. Exellent food to share with great friends in our own private banquet room. I like to thank the entire NorCal 944-SPEC group for a fun and competitive season. I am so proud to be associated with this group. It's not just the racing but it's how everyone helps each other out when we're not racing. There were always unselfish offers of spare parts or labor to help a fellow "competitor" to grid. Congratulations to Rick Lofgren for winning 1st place in the NorCal 944-SPEC season championship.
Greg Brandeau took 2nd for the season.
and Sid Lee fought a hard battle for a highly contested 3rd.
There were a total of 97 race starts from ten 944-SPEC racers in NorCal for 2008 and so there were 97 raffle tickets and ten prizes. The raffle ticket drawing determines prize selection order only. Once a racer's name is drawn the rest of his tickets are void. The drawing continues till all ten names are drawn. Here's a table of the racer's name, the number of races, mathematical odds and the actual selection order from the raffle ticket drawing. Name

Here's what everyone picked base on selection order: Greg, Aiptek HD-1 720P digital camcorder with built-in 1GB memory and expanable via SD cards.
Sid did the smart thing and pick what his wife wanted, a Apple 8GB iPod touch.
Ron did the same for his wife with a TomTom XL widescreen GPS even though he needed a front strut brace.
Rick selected the DeWalt 18V cordless impact wrench kit which includes a carrying case, two batteries and recharger.
Ken, Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray disk player so he can watch Wall-E from a high definition Blu-ray disc instead of on his shirt.
Jerry selected a much need KLA front strut tower brace for his car.
Steve took the $125 BestBuy Gift card.
Aubie picked the second KLA strut tower brace for his car.
Jim got back the $100 he donated.
Which left Tom with the tool bundle of a cylinder leak-down tester kit, a brake bleeder and vacuum pump kit and a 7 piece body and fender repair kit.
