Sunday morning was daylight savings time and we all lost an hour sleep. We had a 8:00AM practice session with Group C, the little Legend cars.
Those little cars are quick and agile; they don’t look like they weigh very much. Just got to make sure they’re not in your blind spot and avoid accidently squishing them.
Bill Pennock took the pole and we were grid in our regular spot behind the spec Miatas. Bill was on a mission: 1. win the race, 2. make sure the cars he passes sees his “For Sale” sign in the rear and 3. take the 944SPEC Thunderhill fastest lap record.Bill easily accomplished all three. It should have been another day of great racing fun but unfortunately we had a 944 on 944 incident. Mike lost it in Turn 6 and went sideways, Steve did his best to avoid T-boning him. There’s damage to Mike’s driver side and Steve’s passenger side when they made contact. Both are O.K. and the cars can run on their own power. They have to figure out if it’s just the body panels or if there is frame damage. Sunday’s finishing positions: 1st- Bill Pennock 2nd- Greg Brandeau 3rd- Ken Huey 4th- Jerry Whitteridge 5th- Steve Huey 6th- Mike Lee |
