Sunday was breezy but back to normal sunny spring weather again. There was a rumor that someone was caught driving with a Go-Kart helmet. It was announced at the drivers meeting that ALL cars are to report to the impound area after qualifying for equipment inspection. Helmets, suits, gloves, shoes and socks were inspected. Sunday’s qualifying put Todd at the pole again. We were the fourth green flag but after Turn 15 leading to the front straight the pace car held us because a RX-7 broke down on the straight. The pace car took us around for another lap as the emergency crew work to get the vehicle off the track. After the second pace lap we got the green and Greg was pushing hard to take the inside line from Todd. Greg thought his tires were hot enough because of the extra pace lap, miscalculated and spun into the dirt coming out of Turn 1. He was able to get back onto the track quickly. Greg managed to fight his way back and reeled us in as he creeps closer with every lap. He got another 1st place win despite the spin. The finishing order was the same as Saturday. This wine glass set cannot be purchased which should add to it’s value on the collectible market. In addition two tickets each will be added to the year end raffle with includes the fabulous Hawaiian vacation, electronics, gift cards, etc. Every 944SPEC racer that runs in a NorCal event is guaranteed a prize in the year end raffle.
