Round 2 of NorCal’s CASH series continued at the picturesque track of Infineon raceway May 5th-6th.
We had beautiful spring weather in the mid 70’s to low 80’s with a refreshing breeze on Saturday and warmer Sunday in the mid to high 80’s. Infineon is only about a hour or less away for most people living in the San Francisco - Bay Area and because of that family members came out to watch and cheer their racers on.

We made sure to take the kids around the track on the parade laps in the family car and the wives rode in the HPDE run groups with instructors. We want the families to understand a little of what we do, why we find this fun and hopefully find it fun themselves. Fun is the definitive word. Why else would a bunch of grownups who work hard, spend their time, energy and money into this? We look forward to a race weekend and act like happy little children playing with their toys and their friends.
I had a great time running with Jerry. On Saturday’s race, Jerry dove underneath me going into Turn 2 and got in front of me and held it for a couple of laps before he went a little sideways on Turn 7 and I got by him.

Greg in the Dinoco car got first and Steve took second for the weekend. CASH payouts for the weekend: 1st Greg Brandeau - $400 2nd Steve Huey - $300 3rd Ken Huey - $200 4th Jerry Whitteridge - $100 When in the wine country you can’t leave without wine. A bottle of Chardonnay from the local Napa Valley winery Oakville Estate was given out to all 944-Spec racers as a door prize. Special thanks to our event Sponsor FBP.com, Sid Lee for taking pictures and Rick White (former POC chief instructor) for hanging out with us for the entire weekend. Rick is so nice and patient with us because we ask him so many questions and he responds to everyone of them. Rick also put on mini tech. sessions for us and demonstrate how to do alignment on the track with jack stands, strings and a tape measurer. So concludes a great weekend of racing fun with friends and family. Greg got another set of 1st place trophies but I bet the one item he’ll treasure the most is the banner his daughter made for him with color markers attached to a cardboard paper towel center which reads “Go Dinoco and the King Go”.
