Norman checked the rear alignment on his car and everything was good as he laid down a geat qualifying time and again took pole for Sunday's race.
I look forward to a race weekend and Saturday's mishap was not going to stop me from racing Sunday . I dropped off #89 and picked up #95, the shared car between Steve and I. Steve plan his vacation early in the year to not miss a race weekend but this weekends race was not on the calender till about a couple of months ago. Steve made commitments with family vacation already and I know even if he's sitting on a beach in Hawaii he'll be thinking about the race. He'll be ready in August when he gets his 924S back from the shop (the #106 car). The #95 car has a tired motor and down on power but all I needed was for it to complete this one race before we rebuild the engine
For Sunday's race they had a lot of pace cars out there between the groups to prevent what happen Saturday when the lead flag group overran the tail flag group. We had a great and fun race, no incidents. I tried to give Jerry a run but the car didn't want to go. Norman took 1st, Greg 2nd, Jim 3rd, Jerry 4th, Ken 5th.
Weekend awards:Greg 1st & 2nd place: $350 in cash, $250 in Toyo bucks.Norman 4th & 1st place win: $250 in cash, $200 in Toyo bucks. Jim 2nd & 3rd place: $250 in cash, $175 in Toyo bucks.Jerry 3rd & 4th place: $150 in cash, $125 in Toyo bucks.Ken 5th & 5th place: $50 in cash, $50 in Toyo bucks. plus everyone got a bottle of Napa Valley wine and two tickets each for the year end raffle prizes.
Conclusion: It was great to have Norman & Jim join us! We learned a lot from them and they are just so much fun to hang around with. We like to thank Greg's nephew Eric for being our pit crew, taking tire pressures as soon as we got off the track, cleaning windows, checking oil, taking videos, etc. Thanks to Sid for taking all the fabulous pictures which can be found in our gallery section or thru these links:
Saturday's photo album . Sunday's photo album . Sid was doing HPDE4 and will be joining us and racing next month. Ron & Kim Dale dropped by to let us know they just completed their 944-spec and will be joining us soon also. Of course special thanks to our event sponsor AutoPoint Motors. We use AutoPoint Motors as our preferred mechanic not because they sponsor us but because they are excellent mechanics that we trust and they give us very reasonable rates. They already have our business, it's just very nice that they want to give back to our group. So begins the post race weekend depression blues. The race weekends are always too short when you have this much fun. |
