Page 5 of 9 Green Flag:After the parade lap through the hot pits was the pace lap before green. It was a sight as the course went green and the race started.
The eventual overall winning Crawford DP lived up to it's top billing as it pulled a big gap in just one lap.
The two Norma's started in the back of the grid because of rules infraction
This is the first year where there was only one 911 entry. Pacific Power Motorsports 993 team was under tremendous pressure to keep the Porsche tradition of winning the overall. Porsches have taken the overall win for the annual 25 Hours race since 2003. It was a tall order against the Crawford DP but we were cheering for their team.
We were also cheering for our friend and fellow 944-Spec racer Aaron Pfabt in the Pierce Motorsports PorVette (944 with a C5 corvette engine). Both the PorVette and the 993 were in the ES class and we were hoping one of them will win the ES class if not the overall.
There wasn't too much drama with our team. Greg drove the opening session followed by Steve and then Todd Grantham. Our team strategy was not to make low percentage passes and stay out of trouble. We just kept our car on the track and kept racking up laps. We never ran a enduro before and was pleasantly surprise with the fuel consumption and driver endurance. We probably could stay out for about a hour and 45 minutes with ten gallons of fuel but were conservative and brought the car in at about a hour and a half.
