Everyone, at this time, I am NOT planning on running the enduro. I plan to save the remaining life of my RA1's for Buttonwillow and PIR in November.

Dec 4-6 is the 25hr race.

So far I have come up with an estimate of $7,500 to run the 25 with practice and food.

The tire bill is the highest portion of the estimate at $1,830 for 10 new RA-1 tires shaved.

The entry fee is $1,400 for 4 drivers.

This includes the car being preped with new shocks, brake pads, rotors, wheel bearings (all), windshield and rebuilt cv axles. Gotta figure that all of those parts will be tossed after the 25.

Still need some solid numbers on fuel burn per hour and the price of fuel at T-Hill for this event.

Also include a paid crew chief who will manage the fueling and servicing.

Charlie, I estimate that fuel burn is about 1 gal. per 10 minutes. That may be just a bit low for long stints like you would run in the 25 hour race but I don't think it is too far off. I know that we were burning about that at Miller. Would altitude affect fuel burn due to denser air?

In any event, at 6 gals. per hour, 25 hours would burn 150 gals. You might allow an extra amount for conservative estimates.

Charlie, definitely sounds like you've been through this before.

Regarding fuel, a conservative estimate using a burn rate of 8 gallons per hour and the current price at T-Hill of $4.59/gallon would be $918. It looks like the elevation is close to sea level (maybe 200 feet above) which would mean significantly more fuel burned than at Miller. Maybe 8 gallons/hour is not conservative enough?

I will use the 8 gal/hr estimate until I can get better numbers. May work on that this weekend.

You drive the car a little easier in the enduro as well as short shifting to conserve fuel. Fuel stops with drivers change costs you 2 laps. If you can eliminate just one it is huge in track position.

Very important to avoid body contact and fuel spills. Both cost time in the penalty box.

Yes lots of 25 hr experience. Last year was the first one I did not race in. Shawn Sampson and I won the EO class in 05 with a slow 86 RX7.

Just noticed the cost per gallon at T-Hill.

I will figure that into the cost sheet.
