Will it be Vaccaro?
The 2005 season is drawing to a close with one week and two races remaining for both Arizona and Southern California.

In Arizona the race for the Championship is down to just two, Jason Boles and Vince Vaccaro. Currently Vaccaro holds an 80 point lead.

Or Boles?

This advantage was obtained only in the last event where Vaccaro scored a 3rd and 2nd place finish. Boles was unable to attend those races and lost his points lead which he had maintained since April.

Third in point is also up for grabs with Darren Griffith maintaining a 100 point gap over last year's 3rd place finished Glenn Gormely.

The action should be interesting as NASA Visits Firebird's Main Race track for only the second time this season on December 3rd and 4th. Firebird was kind to Boles in February where he scored a win and a 2ndplace besting Vaccaro in both races. In their last race meeting however at PIR Vaccaro took two class wins over Boles.

2005 So Cal Champion Weitze Sitting Pretty

The picture in Southern California is both more clear and complex. Clear because Mikeal Weitze has run away with the class championship behind 5 wins with 4 of them in the last 4 races. The battle for 2ndand 3rd however is open to some 2 and 6 other racers respectively.

These last two podium spots will be decided at Buttonwillow on November 12th and 13th.Currently Bill Addy holds down 2nd with a 111 point gap to the only man that can take that spot, Jim Marks. Marks however, is in a dog fight of his own with no fewer than 5 other racers that can take away his 3rd place. Rolex Grand-Am veteran Dwain Dement, former regional champion Tim Comeau, and the ever fast Dylan Scott all have a shot at Marks with a little luck. Tom Spargo and Johnny Pag also have outside shots at Marks' podium championship finish.
