i think i'll aim for 2610 lbs at the top of reserve. Then the car should run out of gas before being underweight. now where to add 10 lbs.

Rick, my drivers gear weighs 17 pounds. Gather up ALL of your dirvers gear (don't forget socks, head sock, cool shirt vest and every other piece of gear you use. Weigh it all. You should be good to go.

HOWEVER, (there is always a however:laugh:) have some extra weight with you and be able to bolt it in if needed. Whenever you are close to weight, you will need to get everything just like you will come off the track (minimum fuel and all drivers gear, cool suit box with ice and water, etc.) and go the the OFFICAL scales prior to qualifying for the Thursday session and check your car. Last year the offical scales were appreciably different than my scales and I had to make adjustments.

I checked every day because I was close to minimum and did not want the scales to be set up differently one day and catch me out.

Did you do a corner balance? How did it come out?

with a cookie cutter on the gas tank(16 lbs, for half of a championship race's gas) 10 lbs paint can for ballast(to be replaced with something more permanent) 7 liters fuel(top of reserve light) and me with my gear(15 lbs), the weights were:

665 624
692 645

total 2626 (so 2610 if i take out the extra cookie cutter)
cross weight 49.9%/50.1%

I still need to drive it around the block to settle the suspension and weigh it again, but they are chip sealing my street and you won't believe how much gravel these tires pick up even when they are cold. They haven't done the final slurry yet, bastards. i'll just do donuts in the driveway

Gosh I hope you are watching my video so you know the correct (slow) way around the track.
I have a special set of 2007 RA-1 tires set aside for Rick. There is only 22 heat cycles on them and they are fast. I would give Rick the winning set from last year but I borrowed those on race day and had to give them back.
Beware the young guns, they are fast. I have no idea if they are consistent. We will find out next week.
Is there a bridge nearby? I don't want to miss the jump. Ron be sure to let us know ahead of time when and where.
I might be right behind you. We could jump together but that may tarnish my already poor reputation.
Never count out the self licker. Last year at Miller was his best race. If you watch the NASA video he did everything right except for the one incident at Attitudes. It was the only place he was clearly faster than Joe. He had no choice but to attempt the pass there.
I just happened to have fallen back the perfect distance to get by both of them at once. Pure luck on my part. It could have ended poorly for all of us.
Oh well I will take luck anyday. Maybe next week,:-0

It is looking like a great time in Tooele.

See you all there.

Miller video's have replaced my normal nighttime viewing(except for Glee, of course!). We're expecting a champion from Nor Cal so somebody's got to step up. If a person who is not even old enough to drive legally on the street wins, I'll congratulate him, and then go jump off a bridge! And if the only 924S in the race wins, clearly we will have to shun him because he's not in a real 944, plus he's obviously cheating! And if somebody who's named after an animal, large or small, that can lick itself wins, well it's just not fair!

Hey Rick, I always figure the scale has a 1% error factor.
So shoot for 2630 at the finish. I came in at 2650 last year.
Maybe not the fastest but definetly legal.
