This isn't such good news for folks that have new sets of R888s laying and won't be able to "run them down" anytime soon.

More tires for the landfills....

Bring them to Nationals. I expect that will burn up 1 set with ease.

The ONLY good thing about this transition is that due to the wear rate on the R888 buring them up is so much easier then buring up RA-1's. Those things never died!

I am happy to be going back to ra-1s, but i know we have several racers in Norcal that have r-888s that would last them easily through the end of 2010. Can we decide to allow the r-888 longer than the NASA decree, like say through mid next year?

Personally, I would rather see everyone follow NASA's ruling.

Use them in warm-up and enduros. Anyone who thinks R-888's will last through a full season (even two sets) is an optimist!

Give them a little more time and they'll have another new ruling that screws over everyone who respected and planned around the current ruling. Been there, done that.

I can't see any R888's lasting to the end of 2010 though. You'd be lucky to get new R888's to last until the end of the 2009 season, and the current plan allows them to be used for the first 3 race weekends in 2010. So I don't think it will be a problem.

Besides, it's not like the R888's are an advantage or desirable... I'm glad to see that most everyone is finally admitting what we've known since 2008... R888's suck more often than not. It's a shame that some were afraid to say that until NASA and Toyo basically said it themselves, but whatever.
