Removal of the balance shaft belt is an expensive way to get a few more HP.
We've found the extra vibration it causes kills fuel rails, oil pick up tubes, dipstick tubes.

I cant imagine any more things that could possibly be changed in a spec class that hasn't already been addressed or needed over several, several years.

maybe a 2 year rule freeze would be in order

Can't agree with locking the rules. Bad idea if something comes up.

I am all for a rule freeze. The directors can decide as a group if something really needs to be addressed.
We have had a number of rule changes in the last few years that we could have lived without.
People who are reading our board and may be considering joining our class may be put off with new rules every year.
Each new rule makes our class less SPEC unless it is a required rule for everyone.

A rules freeze is a good idea. The listing of changes this year looked minor. We have a horsepower cap, a focus on stock parts and a minimum weight so the rules do address the economics of racing. The rules have focused improvement on the drivers ability. For these reasons I would vote to freeze the rules for at least two years.

My only suggested change is to require wink mirrors and rear view mirrors on the fenders for safety and better visibility. These mirrors would greatly reduce to eliminate the blind spot issue that occurs when a car is at the rear fender of someone.

We did a 3 year freeze after chips and headers were banned. It didn't seem to be problematic at the time. I'll bring it back to the SD's.
