Yes I just finished building a '89 944 that I got for a 12 pack of beer without interior, engine or transaxle but a good straight roller!

I built a NASA approved tigged cage
I re-built a good used '88 engine with '83 crankshaft, early '83 forged rods, trap door and some oiling modification to oil pump
I got a custom stainless exhaust system with no -cat on craigslist
I have an 8Q LSD transaxlefrom pic-n-pull I will be putting a speedo sender in for the late 944
I installed some M030 968 sway bars on it
I still need to re-index the 30mm torsion bars I got in the rear, find some front KONIs and 350lb springs, get it aligned and then just buy a set of Toyos next year.

This winter or early next year I will go to a driving school and get my comp license in my '83 euro sunroof delete 944 with turbo suspension! Then I can get into NASA and start running with you guys!

Do you happen to have a spare 88 924s CV axle. Just looking for one as a back up.

Any 85.5 and later axle will work in your 924S. Including a turbo axle. They are all the same.

Is the 944 spec car build an 89 chassis? If so read the rules closely. I can't remember off had, but the 89 chassis may not be legal. Yes I know you can swap to the 2.5L motor, but the rules I believe just allow the 83-88 chassis. Yeah it may not many any difference, but you should still check. I have had this question come up before and I can't remember exactly where came down on the 89 chassis. I know the 944S chassis are legal since they share vins and properly modded you can't tell and 88 944S chassis from an 88 944 chassis. The 89 has a different VIN. So check it.


If not you have two choices. 1) don't use the 89 tub 2) propose allowing the 89 tub per the rules. We can evaluate that change for 2011. Since you are still building it won't make any difference this year.

definetly not the same axle Joe. The 924s is shorter. I already checked that option.
