I guess we need to know if old records are going to be saved.

If the new tire does not work out and we go back to the RA-1 then the new track records with the RR tire will never get broken.

Are we going to have RA-1 records and RR records? pre 2013 records?

Is there a plan in place to address this potential issue?

You'll have to come back and race for a new record, Charlie. Maybe you guys can now break the TR's out there that were set when chips & headers were legal.

Looking at a car next week for purchase.
There is only one record in So-Cal that has not been broken and that is Cal Speedway. That was set with chips and headers I believe as well as a boxster pushing on the front straight.
It will fall with the new tires.

AutoClub is the one that came to mind. The back story on that is interesting.

Bite your tongue on another tire "reversion"

I was at the So-Cal race at Buttonwillow last weekend and the current track records were posted next to the lap times.
According to the posted info the track records are separating the RR from RA1. The lap record for 944spec at Calspeed was set on RRs in March. It is .3 seconds above the old RA1 record.
I confirmed with Ryan Flarhety about the RR records being separated. What I did not ask was if this was nation wide.

Can anyone answer that question?

The offical NASA track records are maintained by the regions, and they have the say on how they want to manage this. I haven't seen the other regions separate this out, but then I've only raced in the SE this year, so far. For 944 Spec purposes, we are archiving the old RA-1 times, but only going with one lap record, so I see most of them up for grabs. We really only have control over the records we keep on this site.
