TOPIC: I like to stimulate things.....

I like to stimulate things..... 15 years, 4 months ago #3002

Today it was the economy....
Not only did I just purchase my Koni's and 30mm Torsion bars, I picked up this new piece of safety equipment.

I do have a question. Upon further inspection of this new seat, which is new, not used BTW, I noticed some hairline cracks in the fiberglass. Is this normal?

Are those cracks or scratches - hard to tell. If they're cracks, I'd send it back!

If the seat is new I would personally try to get it replaced, where is the crack? It's hard to tell in the picture.

I have one of those Sabelt seats in my car and love it. Probably the most comfortable seat I have been in.

No, they are cracks.

Michael, I would also send it back. A few scuffs on a used seat are fine, but cracks will only get worse, further weakening the already compromised structure.

Here is what the fine folks at OMP said:

Michael,
That is normal, because the crack is usually in the exterior part of the seat, be that part plastic or fiberglass. The most important is the shell, so unless it is damaged, your seat is fine.
Keep in mind seats are good for around 5 years. Sometimes it is better to buy a new one than put some risks by using an old seat.
