I called my mechanic and here is what he said.


Scratches are actual grooves in cylinders. Also, the machine shop called and said it needs valves. The stems are worn below spec. Maybe ask if anyone has any good ones.

Any help? I need to get a good block and valves for
as reasonable as possible.

Bummer, that's pretty rare, and the valves, too. Your car may not have have it's oil changes followed well.

My block seemed to have the same scratches. Have the machine shop hone the block. The scratches will go away but other wear will show up. I've posted pictures in this forum.
