TOPIC: Head Gasket - MLS Gaskets?

Head Gasket - MLS Gaskets? 15 years ago #6463

I'm putting together the parts list for my top end rebuild. I've started using Cometic Multi-Layer Steel head gaskets on all the head jobs I do. I was considering this for my 944 Spec Car, but upon a quick review of the rules I found this:

11.6 Gaskets OEM or OEM replacement gaskets are required.

I'm taking this to mean that they have to be of OEM type materials. Is this correct? If so It looks like the Cometic head gasket can't go on my parts list.

Thanks,
-bj

I believe that to be correct. It must be an OEM gasket or equivilent (same construction).

I agree... I don't think we can do MLS.

Yep,
That is correct.

The good news is that headgaskets are not weak point on these motors. The only headgaskets I have seen fail were old one on un-rebuilt motors.
