I totally understand you. I too hate the 5 car payout only. Under that system a guy that wins 4 straight races early $150 times 4 and therefore pretty much one set of tires in 2 weekends. ($600) He can't go through tires that fast.

Not tring to start a war but why not cut down on the 1,2,3 place earnings and pass it on to 4,5,6,7,...... You said yourself that "he can't go through tires that fast."

I, too, like the idea of a bigger payout for more participation, and it does make sense to me. I will certainly lobby hard for that. Again, whatever happens, has to apply to all the spec tire classes. No way we will get favored treatment over SM, and SE30.

Ken, we'll talk about working on another plan for redistributing Toyo bucks in the MW. We have done this, but especially as the class grows, the logistics of this get pretty complex in a widespread region. It helps a lot if we all use one tire distributor. maybe I'll put you in charge of collecting them

Found this interesting. SM is having their own tire debate over in the SCCA: http://mazdaracers.com/index.php?showtopic=308&st=0

Well heres the breakdown on attendance by region.

Well heres the breakdown on attendance by region.

AZ 138 entries for 16 events = 8.6 average (did not include Nats)

Mid West 43 entries for 7 events = 6.1 average

Nor Cal 93 entries for 16 events = 5.8 average

So Cal 124 entries for 16 events = 7.7 average

RM 158 entries for 12 events = 13.1 average

So East 2 entries for 2 events = 1 average

Totals 558 entries for 69 events = 8.08 average nationally

It appears by the math that the Toyo program is working perfectly and 5 of 7 drivers are getting paid (71%).

Now I get that with an average of 13 drivers per event that does not seem to great. But this is about all of the regions and not just one with 384 nationally vs. 158 for RMR.

This has to be kept in perspective for the greater good of the 944Spec program.

i wish we had 16 events ... Good information , I was looking for this in a easy to find format about 3 months ago .

When Az has 6 to 10 cars that is exactly what we do. 5 cars = standard payout. From 6 to 10 it is sliding scale such that a 10 cars the winner gets $80 per race instead of $150. We have done this for a couple season with good results for all involved. Even so I can't extend this beyond the top 10 as there is not enough money to go around.
