Curious to see what other racers like/dislike with regard to available rotors.

Slotted or slick?

I'm planning on running Hawk Blues in the front, and unsure on the rear compounds just yet.

At this point, I am planning on running stock rotors. Picked up my Brembo 87 OEM replacements for $35 ea.
Allzim (in Bedford Tx) can gas slot and/or cross drill for about $38+ each.
If I do anything other than run stock, I will slot them. crossdrills tend to generate cracks in my experience...not sure how much would really be gained cooling wise.

I use stock rotors. I don't think there is any advantage to exotic rotors. Don't forget to buy a couple of spares.

Used the cheapest ones paragon had. Some chinese ones for $30 each. No braking issues, but I might go one step up as I think I got a little better rotor life with last set of non chineses rotors.

Maybe it is just my imagination however. I only change rotors one a year or more.

Cross drilled DO have cracking problems. I have been using the slotted ones but they are more expensive. I am going to try Joe's idea of using smooth ones next time to see if there is any issue with them. I will go with a step up from Chinese.

I have never experienced brake overheating problems on any track I have raced at so I do not see any issue with that with the slotted ones. I also do not have brake ducts for the fronts. I know that lots of guys do have them though. Personal choice on that part. I will let you know if I see any problems with smooth ones after trying them versus slotted ones.

Cross drilling will cause your rotors to run hotter. Less thermal mass + less metal = hotter rotors. Since metal conducts heat much better than convecting air, you want as much metal as possible to keep your rotors happy.

I've run the cheapest Paragon rotors without any issues either. They're blanks, no slotting.
