TOPIC: Turbo oil filter housing to NA motor..

Turbo oil filter housing to NA motor.. 5 years, 11 months ago #22058

Will be starting out running an early ('83) motor and I have a turbo oil filter housing I was hoping to put to use, was wondering what mods will be necessary to mount the unit if at all possible. Is there a different OPV needed?

Thanks in advance!

Dino, The Turbo housing is what many of us use. Good choice. Also, by adding a conversion fitting to an AN fitting, you can plumb to any larger oil cooler. Not sure about the OPRV. I think you may need the later one as it may follow the Turbo housing, but not sure. Hopefully someone with a better memory will chime in.

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the response! Was doing some research and things began getting a bit fuzzy... IIRC there were some OPV's that do not work in certain blocks.. I believe it had to do with the length and or threads. Also there was some bushing/spacer that does or does not get used. Just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track and don't do anything that may compromise the motor.

BTW- nice job this past weekend at Auto Club Speedway!!

Thanks! Lots of very close racing. Lots of fun!!!

Yes, there are differences and I haven't messed with them in so long that I don't remember the specifics. Tim Comeau can probably tell you off the top of his head.

Hey Dino, I will check with Milledge about turbo console OPV.
I know some are not compatible. My guess is that you want the late one.
Oil cooler plumbing should be -12 lines for best results.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Chuck- I’ll ping Tim and get his input
Charlie- whatever info you can dig up would be much appreciated

Does’t hurt getting different sources to jive.

Thanks again!!
