TOPIC: Does this coil over install look right...

Does this coil over install look right... 15 years, 7 months ago #4343

I have posted some pics, click on them to make them really, really big at my blog

kevingosselin.blogspot.com/2009/05/coil-over-started.html

It is an 83 with paragon coil over kit and mookeh camber plates.

Is the spring perch supposed to stay at the top of the strut as shown?

Also, anyone else using the mookeh camber plates how far up did the strut come through the top bolt? Mine as shown is not very far and I cannot get a wrench on the top of the strut so as to torque to spec. Do I need to use an impact gun?

Thanks...

Looking at your pictures you should cut the yellow rubber bump stop in half.

Here are pictures from our 25 Hour car.

The large center nut is recessed.

We get about 2/3 thread engagement (the color difference between the loctite threads and the threads at the top).

Thanks. So, that looks the same as mine.

Just to check, you have the spring perch pressing against the bottom camber plate metal bushing right?

How do you torque the nut as I can't get the strut to stop spinning?

Yes. Please do cut your bump stops because your spring travel has been reduced 1"-1.5" by this set-up.

Impact wrench but you can have someone help you hold the strut just below the bottom camber plate metal bushing.

Here is mine. I am running the paragon/ground control camber plates. I cut the bump stop in 1/2 for travel and zip tied the spring to the top hat. I have tried used tender srings to hold the assembly together, but as you can see that do not really work.

Even so this set-up has worked for years.
