I think we're on the same page here.
I'm trying to point out exactly that, the rule as written in 2018 allows any camber plate, if you want a more restrictive rule in 2019 either define a spec plate or plates, or define a template that says "Strut rod must be within this hole in the template", or something like that. You can't say "Any plate except Only7s plate".
