I like the idea, but I wonder how much the narrower width would slow us down in the corners. Spec Miata's do great in the corners, but they're 200 lbs lighter than us. Also, 205/50-15 is about 3% smaller than our current 225/50-15, which does effectively shorten our gearing a bit (could be a good thing).

Lap times would improve on the 205

Spec E30's use a 205/50, and they weigh more than we do.

This would get 944 Spec, SE30, and SM all on the same tire - great bargaining power!

Tires would cost less.

It might look a little undersized, but hey, if cheaper, and equal...

All tire ideas can be discussed.

At the end of the day (season), we will need to wait to see what Toyo does, if anything, about the 888 and how they wear through the summer.

Any REAL discussion will need to take place later in the fall/winter period when we have more information on both of the above issues.

My 2 cents.

I am all for the 205/50/15 RA1 tires for next year. This size actually fits better on a 7" wheel as there will be less tire roll and also the tire will wear more evenly.

Only problem is I have an almost brand new set of R888 and 2 brand new R888's sitting around for next year after I run down my RA1's. I could always use these for track days.

Hmmm -- starts rummaging in the stack of tires in the garage ! Think Tim snagged at least one set in that size from Infineon when he worked there <grin>
