TOPIC: Clarifications of Existing allowances (18-21)

Clarifications of Existing allowances (18-21) 15 years, 1 month ago #6142

These are PROPOSED changes gather from the various discussions. Use this area to further discuss these. Based on the feedback we get the rules will be changed (or not) to reflect these updates. It is anticipated that some rules changes will NOT be accepted, but all are up for debate.

18 Aftermarket Parts sold as direct replacments legal
Aftermarket parts intended as direct replacemants for stock Porsche OE parts with no change in performance or weight maybe used in any location on the car. Subsequent sections of these rules may superseed this allowance for specific parts as noted.

19 Fog light holes for ducting - Brakes or other
The backing of Fog Light buckets may be removed for cooling purposes including, but not limited to oil cooling and brake cooling.

20 Remove powersteering bracket
Powersteer reservior tank bracket may be removed.

21 Aftermarket A/C Delete brackets(Alternator relocation) & revised tensioner
Alternators maybe relocated or reposition by use of either the factory A/C delete bracket or any aftermarket bracket or tensioning system. The alternator may be mounted no lower than the positioning defined by the factory A/C delete bracket.

18. Too loose of wording. This opens the door to any replacement part available on car. This rule will lead to trouble.

19. I thought this was covered already in the rules.

20. I have no problem with this when worded this way.

21. Agreed.

#18 good, but needs to ensure that performance is the same.

#19 good

#20 good

#21 good... might want to add something about the alternator has to be functional (ie no tensioning the belt so low that it doesn't get turned)

I think they all should be adopted. I would however be happy to hear any revised wording to #18. The intent is to make it clear street based off the shelf replacement parts made by supplier "ACME" vs "Porsche" should be legal.

Now I don't see much resistance to the concept, but I would be more than happy to adjust the words to prevent it from being abused.
