The rear suspension in my 84 944 spec is out of an 87 924S. I torn boot in my 88 944 Turbo S and swaped in a complete rebuilt assemly I had for my race car. Same parts and if 924S axles were shorter how could I run them in my 88 944 Turbo.

The 89 944 IS legal. I know because I run one. From the rules:

A 944 spec may utilize any year chassis in the above eligible models as well as the 1987-1988
944S and 1989 944.

Really it is a slight disadvantage as they are heavy.
