Thanks, I can mount it up off the floor with spacers. Does it need to be rubber mounted to isolate it from vibration??

No.

The early cars and 924 have it hard mounted on brackets under the steering column. Nice to keep it out harms way, but kind of hard to get to quickly.

I have however seen cars quit running in really wet conditions. These are mostly later cars with low mounted DME's.

I'll install some spacers under it to raise it up off the floor.

We installed the motor from the bottom.

It's a mouse motor with a mullet! CMC guys, eat your heart out!!!!!
Matt took a lot of abuse from the guys but without him, we would still be working on getting this installed!

Someone drank too much! We won't say who.....

And finally, the money shots........

We also installed the steel A arms that I had along with some delrin bushings that Nick had brought with him.

PIC_7364.JPG

As always, a few parts left over which just makes the car lighter.

I also had Nick bring one of his quick release hubs to get installed at a later date.

I'd like to thank all the guys for coming and helping out and especially to Matt, from Bennington's. Without him running around like a madman, we'd still be trying to get things done!

Motor mounts, AC delete bracket, misc. parts, oil cooler, J boot, front and rear A arm bushings..... $895.95
Total cost of car so far..... $5016.71

When we took the front end apart at the build party I told the guys not to tighten anything to leave it lose that I had to replace some stuff. Whats the purpose of having to re-loosen the nuts and bolts a second time. The rotors look nasty. I don't think they'd last 10 minutes on track.

As long as I have it apart I might as well check the wheel bearings and re-pack them too. I forgot what a mess it is to repack bearings!
This grease looks like it's from WW II.

What a mess!!!!

Rotors were $32.90 a peice at Bumper to Bumper auto parts.

The bearings were all good except this one. I used some anti-frictional semi-solid pseudo-plastic fluid which changes viscosity at the molecular level when shear rate increases which makes it a thixotropic non-Newtonian fluid. This substance was developed shortly after the UFO crash in Roswell at area 51 and until the recent Wiki-leaks was a Top Secret formula only being used by the Pentagon in the stealth fighter project. These recent Wiki-leaks lead to public knowledge of the former secret formula which top officials have tried to keep chemical companies from developing. The use of this chemical in wheel bearings interacts with the metal virtually removing all friction. "Good stuff!!"

All done. I have fresh hubs with new rotors waiting to go back on.

Looking good! There is some exotic grease used by high end race teams that requires hazmat suits to work with it, apparently. No thanks!
